Kleine Paradys Piketberg gave us a different kind of break: not time away from work, but a chance to take the work week somewhere better. The campsite sits about 13 km outside Piketberg, near the Berg River, with the mountains rising across the valley. We packed the Prado, set up the rooftop tent, and made camp our base for the week.
A Site With Room to Settle In
Our site was paved, shaded, and properly laid out for a longer stay. With the tent open, the camp kitchen unpacked, and a braai ready for the evening, it felt less like a quick overnight stop and more like a place where we could settle into a routine. The view over the green riverbank and towards the mountains did plenty to improve the usual office backdrop.

The campsite had the practical side covered too. The nearby ablution block and wash-up area made daily camp life easy, while the shade over the sites helped during the warm parts of the day.

Work With a Better View
We still had work to do, but the rhythm changed completely. Mornings started at camp instead of in traffic, and once the laptop was packed away there was time to sit outside, look across the valley, and get the fire going. It is a simple shift, but it makes a normal week feel much lighter.

More Than a Place to Park Up
Kleine Paradys has a few extras that make it easy to stay put between work sessions. The heated swimming pool, with its slide and stepping-stones, was a welcome place to cool off, while the mini-golf course gave the campsite a relaxed holiday feel. There was enough happening to break up the day without taking away from the quiet of camp.

A Week Away Without Taking Leave
By the end of the stay, Kleine Paradys had shown us why working from camp can be worth the extra effort. We kept the week moving, but traded the usual routine for mountain views, fresh air, and braai fires in the evening. For a practical midweek escape near Piketberg, it gave us exactly what we needed.
