Most people do not know about this little campsite outside Franschhoek, and that is part of what makes it such a good escape. Set among the mountains with the town close by, it felt far enough away to switch off after a long week without needing a big expedition to get there.
I did not wait for the weekend. After a late start, I arrived well past the usual check-in time. I had let the host know beforehand and made the arrangements in advance, so they were happy to let me in and I could get set up with the Franschhoek mountains right in front of me.

A Midweek Reset
The pace was exactly what I needed after a long week. There was time to settle into camp, enjoy the view, and let the busy routine fall away. The campsite was peaceful, but the best part was still having Franschhoek nearby whenever we wanted to head into town.

Work From Camp
This was not only a quick getaway. I could bring my work with me and get through what I needed to do from camp, then step straight back into the quiet mountain setting when the day was done. It made the trip feel like a proper break without having to wait for the weekend.

Franschhoek On the Doorstep
Franschhoek is one of the Western Cape’s most beautiful towns, and having it on the doorstep added plenty to a simple camping trip. Between the mountain views at camp and the town nearby, this is a spot worth keeping in mind for an easy overnight or a few quiet days away.
